Obituary of William A. Elsea, Jr.
William A. Elsea Jr., 81, husband of Charlotte (Mulley) Elsea of Peabody, died on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers while surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Elsea was born on February 24, 1927, in Everett son of the late William A. and Gertrude (McIntyre) Elsea. He was raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School Class of 1945. Following his graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and attended Yale University where he studied Japanese for 9 months. He then served his tour of duty in Japan as a Sergeant and was attached to the 441st Counter Intelligence Corps Detachment,General Headquarters, Far East Command until receiving his Honorable discharge in August of 1947. He later pursued his education at Coyne Electrical & Technical School and Northeastern University where he received an Associates Degree in Engineering in 1960.
Mr. Elsea was employed for 33 years as an engineer at Charles T. Main Inc. until his retirement in 1990. Bill was known as Mr. Fixit by his family and friends as they always depended on Bill to repair things. His entire life revolved around his family, grandchildren and most recently his 2 great grandsons.
In addition to his wife of Peabody with whom he shared 58 years of marriage, he is survived by his 3 daughters and their husbands, Sandra and Edward Bevilacqua of Salem, Judith and Salvatore Firicano of Dracut and Deborah and Jason Dunklee of Watertown; his grandchildren, Amy Patterson, Julie and Bruno Melo and Joshua Firicano; 2 great grandchildren, Mateo Bruno Melo and Mason Edward Bonauito and many nieces and nephews. His sister Blanche Brisendine pre deceased him.
His funeral will be held on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home,82 Lynn St., (location) Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Everett. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923 or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
