Obituary of Evelyn R. (Ring) Christensen
Evelyn R. (Ring) Christensen, of Peabody, 89 years, wife of the late Ernest W. Swede Christensen died Friday at the Masconomet Health Care facility in Topsfield following a brief illness.
Mrs. Christensen was born Oct. 16, 1912 in Peabody daughter of the late John H. and Caroline (Campbell) Ring. She was raised and educated in Salem graduating from Salem High School class of 1929. Mrs. Christensen was known for the wizardry with numbers. So much so that she became the accounting manager for Mass Gas and Electric in Salem at age 21. She remained with Mass Gas and Electric until her marriage in 1942. She then worked alongside her husband at Swede’ s Auto Body in Peabody for the next 50 years as the bookkeeper.
She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and was an avid reader.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald E. Christensen and John E. Christensen both of Peabody; a daughter, Myra R. Christensen of Peabody; a niece and her family Kathy & Ken Stanley, Christina and Christopher Stanley and Andrew Stanley all of Tewksbury also other nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Richard Ring.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Cahill-Brodeur facility at 20 Church St., Peabody (978.531.0472) of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 5 - 8 p.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
