Obituary of Bruce Janes Truesdale

Bruce Janes Truesdale, 78, of Peabody and Nantucket died peacefully at his home on Thursday evening, October 9, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Joanne, daughter Elizabeth and her husband Mark of London, England, son Bruce Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Byfield, MA, son Keith and his wife Susan of Mendon, MA, brother G. Foster of Greenwood, SC, brother Dana of Newport News, VA, and brother-in-law Thomas Boynton of Scandia, MN, six grandchildren, Isabel, Giles, Rosie, Juliet, Bruce III, and Anneliese, and by several nieces and nephews. Bruce was born in Boston, grew up in West Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School and Tufts University. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a project manager for several years at New England Telephone Company and served the Peabody community in many ways as a member of the Jaycees and Rotary Club, as chief fundraiser for the Peabody/Lynnfield YMCA, and as President of the Board of Trustees at J.B. Thomas Hospital. Bruce’s greatest joys came from his family, sailing off Pocomo Point in Nantucket’s Upper Harbor, photography, travel, and his profound love of music. He and Joanne sought out many unforgettable performances both here and abroad. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday October 15, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, to be followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Hospice Care of Nantucket Cottage Hospital or any Hospice of your choice. Burial will be private.
