Obituary of Marion R. (Smith) Jamont
Salem, October 11, 2008. Marion R. (Smith) Jamont, 87, of Salem, died early Saturday morning at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Benjamin Jamont.
Born in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Julia (William) Smith. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1939. She later lived in Swampscott and for the past 54 years has lived in Salem.
Marion worked as a sales clerk for Empire in Salem and later for Jordan Marsh in Peabody, before retiring in the early 1970’s. After her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed long Michaud Bus trips throughout New England, Pennsylvania and Canada.
Marion is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Priscilla Jamont of Newton, New Hampshire, her granddaughter, Casey Jamont of Newton, NH, the family dog, Mitzi, and by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ethel Gallant, Ruth Letourneau, and Jean Smith.
Visiting hours will be held prior to the service on Wednesday from 10:30 until 11:30 AM, at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Her Funeral Service will follow at 11:30 AM.
