Obituary of Noreen P. (O'Connor) O'Brien

Noreen P. (O’ Connor) O’ Brien Peabody Noreen P. (O’ Connor) O’ Brien, 82, beloved wife of the late Richard O’ Brien, died unexpectedly at the Salem Hospital on Thursday afternoon. Born in Cobh, County Cork, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Willam and Catherine (McCarthy) O’ Connor. She lived there in her youth until World War II. She then moved to England as she joined the British Army, and lived there for five years after the war. She then moved to New York City where she met her husband, Richard. After about 15 years she moved to Hamden, CT where she lived for 37 years, and moved to Peabody four years ago as one of the first residents at Brooksby Village. Mrs. O’ Brien worked as a Teacher’ s Aide in the Hamden, CT public schools. She always cherished her family and friends, and enjoyed gardening and specialty with Roses, playing Pool, Bridge, she loved swimming especially in the ocean, and knitting, quilting, and sewing. She will be dearly missed by her family including: one son and daughter-in-law, John O’ Brien & Teresa Lamaster of Baltimore, MD; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen O’ Brien Manzo & Paul Manzo of Beverly and Patricia O’ Brien of West Roxbury; two grandchildren, Matthew D. Manzo of Beverly and Helen O’ Brien of Baltimore, MD; one brother, John O’ Connor of Cobh, Ireland; four sisters, Mary Coleman and Esther O’ Connor, both of Cobh, Ireland, Sr. M. Eucharia of Guilford, CT, and Eileen Drummy of Milwaukee, WI, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, William O’ Connor and Michael O’ Connor. Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday Apr 27 at 11 AM in the Chapel at Brooksby Village, Rte. 114 in Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut ST. location, Peabody. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem, MA Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Grace Monastery, 11 Race Hill Rd., No. Guilford, CT, 06437
