Obituary of Anne (Jacobitz) Cunningham

Anne (Jacobitz) Cunningham passed away peacefully at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center on October 24, 2008 after a long period of declining health. Anne was born in Peabody, the daughter of Frank and Catherine Jacobitz, and was a lifelong resident until moving to Ledgewood in July of 2007. She was a quiet lady who was definitely a homebody. Happily married to Ivan Cunningham who passed away in 2003, they raised their family in Peabody and lovingly enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Nothing was more important to Anne than her family and her church. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Many years ago she was employed by The National Calfskin as a trimmer. Later she was employed as a sales clerk in the men’s department of Almy’s of Salem. Anne was a longstanding member of The South Congregational Church in Peabody who served her church family in many ways. She was a member of The King’s Daughters, The Women’s Association, and the Annual Fair Committee. She was most proud of, and most enjoyed being a member of the church choir for over 50 years. She sang in many concerts and cantatas at the church, and at the many talent shows that were held at the church. Many families were blessed by the special gift of her voice as she was often asked to sing solos for weddings and funerals at South Church. Anne always enjoyed gathering with her family for the holidays and preparing excellent Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She was the “glue” that held our family together. Surviving her is a brother, Peter Jacobitz, of Boston; her two children, Paul - her devoted and loving son and his wife Ellen of Portsmouth, NH, and Bernice - her loving and devoted daughter of Peabody with whom she made her home. Anne was predeceased by her sister Nadja and two brothers, John and Fred. She is also survived, and will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, and her extended family at Ledgewood. Life here on earth will not be the same without mom. Thankfully we have the hope of one day being happily reunited for eternity. Rest now in heavenly peace, mom. A memorial service will be held Tomorrow (Sunday) at 2:00 p.m. at The South Congregational Church, 60 Prospect Street in Peabody. A committal service is planned for later in the week. Arrangements by Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home in Peabody. Memorial contributions can be made to The South Congregational Church Garden Fund or to Hospice of the North Shore.
