Obituary of Albert F. Newhall, Jr.

Albert Franklin Newhall, Jr., lifelong resident of Peabody, MA, died after a brief illness on October 22, 2008. He was 70. The only child of the late Albert and Gladys (Peterson) Newhall, Mr. Newhall was born and grew up in Peabody. He graduated from Peabody High School in 1955. He met the love of his life, Maureen J. (Hallinan) Newhall while they were park instructors at the MacArthur Park in the summer of 1955. They married in November 1959, and were married nearly 49 years. Mr. Newhall earned his BS in Engineering from Northeastern University in 1971. He spent the majority of his career working for Sylvania as a project engineer, and ultimately retired from Beringer Industries of Marblehead in 2000. Mr. Newhall was an avid golfer, playing most of his life at Olde Salem Greens, where he was a fixture on the Saturday morning golf circuit. Upon retirement from Beringer, Mr. Newhall took up golfing residence at the Meadows at Peabody. When he wasn't playing in the men's league, he could be found smiling and listening to his favorite Irish music in the starter shack. Over the course of his career, he scored two holes in one. A lover of travel, Mr. Newhall organized many family trips at home and abroad. By far, his favorite destination was County Kerry, Ireland where he was welcomed with open arms by cousins and family members. He took pride in his Irish roots, as both a fan of Irish music as well as being a member of the Peabody AOH. Mr. Newhall was a member of St Ann's Church in Peabody. Mr. Newhall is survived by his wife, Maureen, his son Michael Newhall of Seattle, WA, Kerry Newhall of Medford MA, daughter Kristin and her husband Ross MacMillan of New York, NY. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces, all of Maureen’ siblings and their spouses and so many friends. He also leaves his loving companion dog Jake. His funeral will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., (new location) Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn Street, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Albert F.
