Obituary of Jerry R. Langone, Sr.

Jerry R. Langone, Sr., 85, of Peabody and formerly of East Boston, died Saturday evening at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home in Peabody following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Romaine (Saponaro) Langone. Born in East Boston, he was the son of the late Joseph and Carolyn Langone. He was raised and educated in East Boston, and in 1974 he moved to Peabody where he has lived for the past 34 years. Jerry served his country during World War II with the United States Army and was honorable discharged in February 1946 with the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon and Victory Medal. For many years, Jerry worked as a meat cutter for Brown’s Market in Manchester-by-the-Sea, before retiring many years ago. Jerry was also active and attended the Senior Center in Peabody where he enjoyed playing cards and chess, and he also enjoyed playing golf as well. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry R. Langone, Jr. and his wife Mary of Beverly, four grandchildren, Brooke Trasy and her husband Niten, Matthew and his wife Crystal Langone, and Nicholas and Sam Langone, a great granddaughter, Mariah Trasy, and he is also survived and predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
