Obituary of Virginia A. (Kummel) Harding
Virginia A. (Kummel) Harding, 85, of South Peabody, died Wednesday at the Union Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Harding Jr..
She was born in Hartford, Ct. on November 3, 1919, the daughter of the late Harry and Alice (Le Clair) Kummel and was raised in Lynn Ma and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1938.
She later graduated from Burdette
College in Lynn and was first employed at the General Electric Co., Lynn.
After her marriage, she lived in Peabody and later in Venice, Florida for 15 years before returning to Peabody 3 years ago.
She had also worked as a secretary at the Hitchcock Teaching System of Woburn for 10 years and later at J.B. Thomas Hospital, Peabody and finally at Global Oil Company of Revere prior to her retirement.
She was an avid bingo and
Bridge player and loved to read.
She is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne and Darlene Harding of Peabody and David Harding of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren a sister-in-law, Helen Harding of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Charles Kummel and Lorraiane Dow.
A Memorial Service will be held in September with interment in Whitinsville Cemetery, Whitinsville, Ma.
