Obituary of Leo P. Miraglia

Leo P. Miraglia, 81, of Peabody and formerly of Everett, died peacefully Sunday morning at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Phyllis (DeSena) Miraglia. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Rocco and Carmella (Bruno) Miraglia. He was raised and educated in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School. After high school, he enlisted with the United States Navy and was honorable discharged in 1947. He then attended Boston University for two more years. Leo was an accountant who worked for food purveyors in the Boston Area until his retirement in 1999. He also was an active member of St. Adelaide’s Church in Peabody. He was a member of the couples club and served as a past president, he also was involved with the bazaar as well. Besides his loving wife, Leo is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Lee Miraglia of Salem, four grandchildren, Melissa and Jennifer Miraglia, and David and Sean O’Toole. He was the loving father of the late Karen Miraglia O’Toole and brother of the late Anthony and George Miraglia. Following cremation, a Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell Street, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
