Obituary of Lillian O. (Smith) Burnett

Lillian O. (Smith) Burnett 96 years of Epping NH, wife of the late Charles L. Williams and the late James P. Burnett, died unexpectedly on Thursday at the Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire. Mrs. Burnett was born August 30, 1908 in Atkinson Maine daughter of the late Harry and Olive (Damon) Smith. She was raised and graduated from Gardiner High School class of 1928. In 1939 she moved to Lynn. From 1953 she resided in Salem before moving to Peabody in 1988. In 2002 she moved to Epping NH to be with her family. Mrs. Burnett was employed for many years as a salesclerk at S.S. Kresge, then became the East Regional Food Supervisor of their food pantries and traveled extensively. She remained with the company after it became known as K Mart until her retirement in 1985. She enjoyed reading as a hobby. She is survived by a son and 2 daughters-in-law, James P. and Rena Burnett of Epping NH and Marie Williams of Carson Mississippi; 8 grandchildren, Robert Burnett, Sean Burnett both of Danvers, James P. Burnett III of Washington DC, Reno Burnett, Shannon Burnett both of NH, Robin Burnett of FL, David Williams and Pamela Armstrong both of LA, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A son Fred L. Williams and 5 siblings also predeceased her. Her funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., location, Peabody. Relatives and friends may pay their respects Monday from 1 - 2 p.m. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers.
