Obituary of Encarnacao E. Marques

Encarnacao E. Marques, 100, of Lynn, died peacefully Thursday morning at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Lima Marques. Born in Obidos, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Gertrude (Esperanca) Bernardo. She was raised in Portugal and in 1966 she immigrated to the United States and has resided in Lynn for the past 42 years. She worked as a presser for the New England Leather Factory in Peabody for 13 years. However, what was most important to her though, was her family. She was deeply devoted to her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She took great pride in the raising of her family and she cherished and adored each member of her family. She is survived by two daughters, Gertrude Nascimento and Maria Machado, both of Lynn, her four grandchildren, Odette and her husband, State Representative Robert Fennell, Joe Nascimento, Sandra and her husband Harry Kanellos and Andre Machado and his fiancé Arlene Johnson, and is also survived by five great grandchildren, Ashley and Tanya Fennell, Theresa and Anthony Nascimento and Isabella Kanellos. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
