Obituary of James X. Meniates

James X. Meinates, 82, of Lynnfield, Ma. and Naples, Fl., died Sunday at the Mass General Hospital, Boston, after a long illness. He was the husband of Urania (Papademetriou) Meniates with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Xenophon and Eleni (Panagopoulos) Meniates and had moved to Valira,Greece at the age of 4 with his Family for 15 years before returning to Peabody in 1939. He was a veteran of WW 11 serving with the U.S. Navy in Plymouth, England. Following his discharge, He worked in the family Leather business, Richard Leather Co, of Salem and has been The president of the company for the past 56 years. He had been a member of the Board of Trustees of the former Citizens Bank & Trust Co, of Peabody. He also was A member of Ahepa and the Jordan Lodge of Masons. He had resided in Lynnfield and Naples Florida for the past 14 years. He was a past board member of St. Vasilios Church Peabody and also a member and founder of St. Katherine’ s church, Naples, Fl. Surviving him besides his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, James and Gail Meniates of Danvers; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne & Leo Zisis of Lynnfield, a brother, Paul Meniates of Peabody, 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His Funeral will be held on Friday At 9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by Services in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody at 10:00 A.M. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
