Obituary of Dorothy Buckley
Dorothy Buckley, 79 years, formerly of Jewett Rd., Beverly, died Thursday at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly.
Miss Buckley was born Sept. 20, 1922 in Beverly daughter of the late James and Mary (Walker) Buckley. She was raised and educated in Beverly graduating from Beverly High School class of 1940. She was employed for more than 35 years in the insurance industry. She began her career at the former Field and Coles Insurance Agency in Boston which subsequently became the Royal Alliance Insurance Co. where she retired as the office manager in 1982.
Miss Buckley was a member of the Daughters of Isabella in Beverly and served on the Board of Directors of the Beverly Visiting Nurses Association. She enjoyed swimming and was a devotee of the West Beach in Beverly. She also enjoyed traveling but relished attending all the sporting events in which her nieces and nephews participated.
She is survived by a brother and his wife, Richard L. and Mary Buckley of Beverly; seven nieces and nephews, Peter Buckley of OH, Charles Buckley, M.D. of CO, Katie Buckley of WV, Richard Buckley of Scituate, Moira Buckley-Rogers of CT, Cionna Buckley-Rosenthal of NJ and Devin G. Buckley of FL and several grand nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Robert W. Buckley, M.D. and aunt of the late Susan Buckley.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 29, at 11 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 552 Cabot St., Beverly. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may pay their respects from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
