Obituary of Alfred J. Caron

Alfred J. Caron, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 15, 2008. He was the son of Leon J. Caron and Marie Jeanne (Ouellette) Caron and the step son of Yvonne (Ouellette) Caron of Salem, MA. He was born on March 25, 1929 in Salem. He lived in Peabody for most of his life with his beloved wife Lucy (Femina) Caron and their five children for 56 years. They retired and moved to Melbourne Beach Florida in 1987 where they have wintered for the past 21 years and returned to Peabody for the summers. Alfred worked in the elevator business for 42 years and was a member of IUEC local 4 in Boston. Prior to his elevator business, Alfred enlisted with the United States Navy and served during World War II. He loved to fix and repair everything mechanical, especially his Volkswagen Bug. He also enjoyed playing bocce with his friends in Melbourne Beach. He leaves behind four children, Anthony A.J. Caron and his wife Karin Caron of Peabody, Michael and his wife Joanne Caron of Georgetown, Jean Marie and her husband Richard Jordan of Manchester, NH, and Catherine and her husband Dean Millard of Peabody, and by his sister, Sister Catherine Marie Caron. He was a devoted and proud grandfather, who was also known as Papa to his 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Robert Caron of Peabody and brother of the late Thomas Caron. Let us all be grateful to have had Alfred in our lives. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. His funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem
