Obituary of Marie (Peruffo) Pesavento

Marie (Peruffo) Pesavento, 95, of Peabody, died Monday at the Essex Park Nursing Home in Beverly following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Domenic J. Pesavento who died in 1988. She was born in Marlboro, New York on June 21, 1913, the daughter of the late Angelo and Gioconda (Garbin) Peruffo . She had resided most of her life in Peabody and after her retirement in Ft Myers, Florida for 25 years before moving back to Peabody to be with her family. She was first employed at the former GTE-Sylvania plant in Salem. Later , along with her husband, she started the D.& M Uniform Company. She was in charge of operating the business and pioneered as a women taking on the responsibilities that were left to men in those years and ran a successful operation for over 30 years prior to her retirement. She had been a charter member of the Italian American Club of Peabody and was active there for many years. She also helped in raising funds for the Don Orione Health Care and nursing home in East Boston. She enjoyed taking trips to Italy and spending time with her family. She is survived her sister, Ann Pieroni of Beverly, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Peruffo of Peabody and many nieces and nephews including Marlene Raebeck of Peabody and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was the sister of the late Santo Peruffo, John Peruffo, Robert Peruffo and Madeline Rabchenuk. A Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 until 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held there at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
