Obituary of Dorothy E. G.G. (Oliver) Nelson
Dorothy “G.G.” Nelson, 94, of Peabody, died Monday evening at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Charles R. Nelson.
Born in Spokane, Washington, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Cora (Johnson) Oliver. She was raised and educated in Spokane and received her teachers degree in Washington.
After her husband received his PhD in education, they settled in the Houston Texas area where they lived during their working careers. They retired to Hemet, California for many years and for the past 11 years she has lived in Peabody.
G.G. enjoyed playing the piano and playing golf and also was a member of Lions Club and was a 30 year member of the Eastern Star. She also was a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution as well.
She dedicated her life to her family and will be sadly missed by her friends and family including her daughter, Barbara E. Streit of Peabody, and her seven grandchildren, Dawn, Deirdre, Debbie, Delinda, Rick, Ron, and Chuck, and is also survived by 18 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Richard Oliver and Catherine Pease.
Following cremation, her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
