Obituary of Cecile (Aubrey) Barber

Cecile (Aubrey) Barber, 84, of Danvers, died early Monday morning at the Radius Healthcare Center in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Louis Barber. Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Hormidas and Clara (Desroches) Aubrey. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1940. She later lived in Salem and has spent the last 35 years living in Danvers. She worked as a bookkeeper at the former Lechmere Store in Danvers and later for the city of Peabody before retiring in 1984. She also enjoyed cooking and sewing and was a seamstress of vogue dolls. Cecile was also an avid bowler and reader and loved to garden and was very active at the Peabody Senior Center. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was the mother of the late Ronald L. Barber and sister of the late Leo Aubrey, Irene Steeves and Rita Tardiff. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A one hour visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
