Obituary of Nicholas G. Pangakis

Nicholas G. Pangakis, 77, of Peabody, died Wednesday at the Soldiers Home at Chelsea following a lengthy illness with Parkinson disease. He was the devoted husband of Angela (Mirageas) Pangakis with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. He was born in Boston, Ma on February 2, 1931, the son of the late George A. and Argero (Petrakis) Pangakis and was raised there and was a graduate of Northeastern University in 1954. He then entered the US Army serving in the Korean War for two years until his discharge in September, 1956. He had resided in Needham and was employed as a controller for the St. Regis Paper Company in Newton for over 25 years prior to his retirement in 1985. He and his wife moved to Peabody in 1987. Nicholas loved to travel and was a loyal sport fan following all the Boston sports teams. He was avid reader and was active in the North Shore Parkinson support group of Beverly . Surviving him besides his wife are a brother, James G. Pangakis and his wife Helen of Watertown, his sisters-in-law, Olympia Pangakis of Brighton, Helen Mirageas of Quincy and his brother-in-law,Archie Tsacoyeanes of CT and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. He was the brother and brother-in-law of the late Andrew G. Pangakis, John G. Pangakis and his wife Bessie Pangakis, Nancy Tsacoyeanes of Ct. and Charles J. Mirageas. A Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by Services in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
