Obituary of Yvonne (Parisien) Kauppinen

Yvonne (Parisien) Kauppinen, LPN, 94, of Peabody, died Monday evening at her residence after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Wilho R. Kauppinen. She was born in Salem, Ma on July 25, 1914, the daughter of the late Eli and Georgianna (Harvey) Parisien and was raised there graduating from Ste. Chretienne’s Academy. She was first employed at the former Pequot Mills in Salem. Later she became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for 25 years at the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody. She then worked in the Health and nursing department at the Phillips Light Company in Lynn before her retirement. Yvonne was a very talented person and taught classes at the Peabody Adult Education programs in chair-caning, furniture refinishing, bon sai and other topics. She loved to Bowl with the senior citizens and at age 92 she averaged her age at the Metro Bowl. She also enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to cook and play the piano and taught knitting classes to women at the Calvary Baptist Church. She was a lover of music and enjoyed going to concerts and was a contributing member of the North Shore Music Theatre. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in- law, Virginia and Robert Fenten of Homosassa, FL and Marcia and Robert Jarvis of Gloucester, MA, a son, Randolph Kauppinen of E. Madison, Maine, a sister, Louise Parisien of Peabody, 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Arnold and Philip Kauppinnen and Audrey Pare and the second last sibling of twelve children. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church , Coolidge Road, Peabody with Rev. Caleb Ingersoll officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
