Obituary of Todd F. Bates

Todd F. Bates, 35, loving husband of Danielle C. (Moraitis) Bates of Lebanon Maine, died suddenly at his home on Saturday, December 6, 2008. Todd was born in Lynn on October 8, 1973, son of James W. and Judith A. (Chiplinsky) Bates. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School Class of 1991. He then pursued his education at N.S. Community College in Lynn and New Hampshire Technical College remaining on the Dean’s list until receiving his degree in HVAC in 1996. He resided in Lynn, moving to Strafford NH and in 2005 to Lebanon ME. As an athlete during his schooling years in Lynn, Todd excelled at playing baseball and was an awesome catcher and base stealer with the East Lynn Little League Team starting with the Farm Leagues and playing throughout the Lynn Youth Baseball Leagues. He also ran track for 1 year while attending Lynn Tech and enjoyed hockey roller blading. Todd was employed for 15 years at Mandee’s Pizza in Salem. He then owned and operated Ry-Guy’s Pizza & Sub shop in Lee NH for 3 years. He was later employed as a manager in the fast food industry in Maine until most recently. Todd coached his son’s Little League Teams in Strafford NH and in Maine and was an assistant coach with the Tri State Team. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and would watch each televised game. He enjoyed all the neighborhood kids and would build forts so they could enjoy snowball fights. In addition to his parents of Strafford NH and his wife, he leaves behind his loving and cherished son Ryan James Bates; his sister, Tracy (Bates) Theodorakopoulos and her husband John of Groveland; his niece and godchild Alicia Theodorakopoulos and nephew Anthony Theodorakopoulos whom he played ball with; his mother-in-law, Marie Moraitis of FL; his 2 sisters-in-law and their children, Valerie Moraitis, Sapphire, Jade and John, and Lisa Moraitis, Deben, Dathen and Nina; many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends. His paternal grandparents Frank B. and Margaret F. (Mills) Bates, his maternal grandparents, Mabel F. Coombs and Anthony Chiplinsky; his uncle and best friend Albert L. Chiplinski and father-in-law Stavros “Steve” Moraitis predeceased him. “You are in our hearts for ever and ever. Good Nite and sleep tight Pookie, our son, brother, husband and daddy. His funeral will be held on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn.
