Dearest Manny, Elaine, and Michael, and families,
We were so sadden and shocked to see the obit of Maria in the paper. We didn't know she was ill. We loved seeing her RUNNING around at the campground, and I remember when she "RETIRED" and the next summer I came up with my friends for our annual "girls'" weekend, she told me that she just couldn't stay away! I remember the nights when we came up to visit my brother, John Allen, and she'd come by on the cart and stop and chat. We loved her and she will be soooooo missed by anyone who knew her. We are no longer at Colonial Mast, but all the time there, I always raved about how friendly and well run Acres of Wildlife is. We will be back soon. God bless you all and our prayers are with you.
Cindy, Chuck and Nick Horton

To the Baptista family, and all the Acres family, friends, and campers. I want to thank Maria and family for all the great times. Maria was the rock, and a great friend to all. It was so nice to see her tooting around in he golf cart checking on everyone, still telling the kitchen crew what she wanted(Even after she retired). She will be missed by all, but I am sure she will still keeping an eye on the campground and HER kitchen.
To The Family, I want to express my deepest sympathy for your loss. I also want to share the comfort of John 5:28,29 where we are promised that those who have fallen asleep in death have the hope of receiving a "resurrection" back to life. Life on an earth restored to a beautiful paradise. Psalm 37:11 says, "The meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." While we await that wonderful time please find comfort in these promises.

I can't believe one of the liveliest women in the world is gone!

Manny, Elaine, & Michael: I'm so sorry for you. I know it's been tough. I haven't seen you guys in ages, but your mother, especially, is etched in my mind. She's still "Maria Melrhinos" to me, because she kept birds when she lived upstairs from me. I remember get-togethers on N. Central street that seemed like fancy affairs to me.

She always carried herself like royalty, so poised and confident, and now at last she's truly in the kingdom.

--Joe

Maria made an everlasting impression on us when we moved into our first apartment at the campground, in 2000. Being Gina and Michael's close friends did not give us an easy ticket to do what we wanted. Maria made known her expectations of us as residence of her campground. She never took her eyes off us. She was the kind of person whom we wanted to please because we knew what was behind that strong, hard working, well respected woman. After earning her trust and friendship she showed us her endless love and genuine concern for us as we matured over the years into a marriage and later, 2 beautiful young children. In Maria's presence our family always felt adored by her; she showered us with compliments and sound wisdom straight from her heart. Maria was an amazing woman whose enthusiasm for life was unique and admiring. She was filled with fun, love and laughter. Her memory will remain in us forever and we will miss her dearly.......we already do!!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Manny, Elaine, Michael and family. We love you all so much,
-Sonya and Mark

Manny, Elaine, Michael, and Family - We are so sorry that Maria had to leave you so early. You are a fantastic, beautiful family, and should be comforted by many sweet memories and your tight family bond. I believe strongly in God and that our time here is just a small part of a wonderful journey. Bear and I hope and pray that the pain and sorrow you feel will lessen each day, to be replaced with joy and remembrance. I believe it is a rare thing for someone to truly touch your life. Maria touched ours and we are all the more blessed for it. It is truly our privilege to call her friend.
