Obituary of Lillian F. Sheehan
Lillian F. Sheehan, 92, of Swampscott died on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the Pilgrim Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Peabody.
Miss Sheehan was born in Lynn on November 27, 1916 the daughter of the late Jeremiah F. and Catherine (Cunningham) Sheehan. She was raised in Lynn attended St. Joseph Institute elementary school and graduated from Lynn English in 1934. She then pursued her education at Bryant and Stratton Business School for 2 years.
Miss Sheehan was employed for 40 years as a secretary at A.C. Lawrence Leather Company in Peabody until its closing. She was then employed in the same position at Puritan Medical Center in Salem until her retirement. She was an active communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Swampscott and a member of its ladies sodality and Infant of Prague. Miss Sheehan loved spending time with her family, enjoyed traveling to Ireland & Europe and she was an avid Red Sox, Patriots and Notre Dame Football fan. Miss Sheehan also volunteered at my Brotherâs Table in Lynn for many years.
A sister, Sr. Anne Hayes LSA of NY; 2 nieces, Majella Sheehan, Theresa Saulnier; 2 nephews, Richard Sheehan and Gerard Sheehan and several grand nieces and grand nephews survive Miss Sheehan. Her brother Jeremiah Sheehan and her sister Sr. Catherine Sheehan, Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston predeceased her.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2008 in St. John the Evangelist Church, 174 Humphrey St., Swampscott. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. (facility) Peabody. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, 134 Broadway, Lynn. Memorial contributions may be made to Project Hope, 550 Dudley St., Roxbury, MA 02119 or the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, 637 Cambridge St., Brighton MA 02135.
