Obituary of Ethel Mortis Coumes
Ethel (Mortis) Coumes, 92, of Clearwater, Fl. and formerly of
Peabody, Ma., died Monday at the Cypress Palms Assisted Living Facility in
Largo, Fl. after a long illness. She was the wife of the late William Coumes.
She was born and educated in Peabody, Ma. on January 31, 1910, the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Yeasemon (Cappelos) Mortis, she later lived in Fitchburg and in
Vermont before moving to Florida. She operated with her husband Ricker’ s Lunch
In Fitchburg and later ran the Lincoln Inn in Essex Junction, Vermont for many years
before moving to Clearwater, Fl.
She had been a member of St. Vasilios Church in
Peabody and Holy Trinity Greek Church in Clearwater, Fl.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. She was the sister of the late Dr. George Mortis, Tom Mortis, Alice Thomas
And Anthie Velonis.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., facility followed by Services in
St. Vasilios Church, Peabody at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
Visiting hours on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
