Beatrice was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on January 13, 1930. She was the second of four children born to Elizabeth and Andrew DeWolf. She graduated from Chelsea High School in June of 1948 and, after a three year courtship, married Albert Borucki at St. Rose’s Church on July 9, 1950. In 1965, they moved to Peabody and lived there for the next 43 years. Over the course of their marriage, Beatrice and Albert had five children.
An avid reader, Beatrice enjoyed a wide variety of books but, in particular, enjoyed romance novels. She took pleasure in a variety of arts and crafts including knitting and sewing. When her children were young, she often sewed for them, even making elaborate Halloween costumes. Until 1965, Beatrice did not know how to drive a car and learned when the family was planning a move to the suburbs. Although she was a shy and private person, she loved to talk and would often tell any willing listener stories of her family. she was proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and was always a willing babysitter for any of her grandchildren.
Over the years, she held a number of positions in manufacturing facilities. Initially, she spent time manufacturing shoe soles but over time learned other skills, ultimately holding a position requiring that she skillfully perform intricate soldering on circuit boards. She retired in 1988 after suffering a nearly fatal cerebral hemorrhage from which she recovered remarkably well. In retirement, she enjoyed going to the movies, attending plays, and taking long walks. Over the last few years, she struggled with the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Beatrice gentle nature will be missed by everyone in her family; she is survived by her five children, Linda Hummer and her husband Gene, Albert Borucki and his wife Peggy, Robert Borucki and his wife Susan Davis, Kenneth Borucki and his wife Susan, and Scott Borucki and his wife Donna.
