Obituary of Sr. Mary Margaret Browne, SND

Sister Mary Margaret Browne SND, 86, Of Ipswich, died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Residence in Ipswich. Sister's religious name was Sr. Mary Bernadina SND. Sister Mary was born in Roxbury July 31, 1922, daughter of the late John J. and Delia A. (Connor) Browne. Sister Mary entered the Sisters of Notre Dame at Waltham on August 16, 1941. Sister received her education at Notre Dame Academy, Roxbury, Emmanuel College and Notre Dame University. Sr. Mary was a teacher in parochial schools of Boston and Worcester and she was also an Art Supervisor. Her ministries were in Brighton, Beverly Farms, Waltham, So. Boston, Lawrence, Dorchester, Woburn, Fitchburg and Leominster. Sr. Mary is survived by her many Sisters of Notre Dame, cousins in the USA and Ireland and her many friends. Sr. Mary's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 3 p.m. in Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey's Neck rd., Ipswich. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sisters of Notre Dame, Ipswich. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame Retirement Fund, 30 Jeffrey's Neck Rd., Ipswich, MA 01938. Burial will be held in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich at a later date.
