Obituary of Joseph L. King, Sr
Joseph L. King Sr., 66, of Lynn, died suddenly Saturday morning. He was the devoted husband of Jackie (Collyns) King, with whom he shared over 41 years of marriage.
Born in Chelsea, he was the son of the late Walter L. King Sr., and Alice (Menzies) King. He was raised and educated in Medford and attended Medford Public Schools. He has lived in Lynn for over 40 years.
Joe was a truck driver who worked for various companies on the North Shore and other companies throughout the Boston area. For the past 10 years, he was a bus driver for the Laidlaw, First Student and most recently for the Healey Bus Company. He mostly drove the sports team for Peabody High School and some Salem High School, to all their different venues across the state.
Joe loved to cook, fish, play horse shoes and take long trips with his family. He was a member and past governor of the Malden Moose, where he sometimes played the role of Santa Clause. He was loved by all, especially his grandchildren and all the student athletes he drove and was considered one of the best bus drivers in the world.
Besides his loving wife to whom he always catered to, he is survived by his loving children, Tracy Vincent of Peabody, Joseph L. King, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Indiana, Pamela and her husband Cary Waite of Wisconsin, Janet and her husband Frank Anderson of Peabody, and Kathy LeBlanc of Lynn, his 15 grandchildren, Amanda, Ben, Shalia, Joey, Brendon, Carysa, McKayla, Emily, Elizabeth, Frank Jr., Jennifer, Daniel, Samantha, Kenneth, and Alex, and his also survived by several brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Stephens Church in Lynn to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM, with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the American Diabetes Assoc., 330 Congress St, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02110.
