Obituary of Manuel Espinola Eiro

Manuel Espinola Eiro, 88, of Lawrence and Peabody, died unexpectedly on Tuesday evening at the Lawrence General Hospital, after being stricken at home. He was the devoted husband of the late Maria (Santos) Eiro. Born and raised in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Manuel E. and Maria (Luz Medina) Eiro, Jr. While living in Portugal he was a farmer who cultivated his family land to held support his Family. He immigrated to the United States in 1960 and had resided in Peabody for over 40 years before moving to Lawrence a year ago. He was a self-taught guitar player who enjoyed playing folk music and later he had made several of his own guitars. He is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-laws, Valquerio & Sylvia Eiro of Hampstead, NH, Helder & Maria Eiro of Watsonville, Ca., and Bertino & Margaret Eiro of Lawrence; a daughter and son-in-law, Elza & Manuel Garcia of Hanford, Ca.; a brother and sister-in-law, Serafim & Helda Medina of Peabody; a sister-in-law, Luiza Eiro of Peabody; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frank Eiro. His Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody at 9:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Realtives and friends are kindly invited.
