Obituary of Anne M. (Horrigan) McCarthy

Anne M. (Horrigan) Mc Carthy, 80, of Middleton and formerly of Peabody, died early Wednesday morning at the Rosewood Nursing Center in Peabody after a short illness. She was the former wife of the late Philip C. McCarthy. She was born in Peabody on June 28, 1928, the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Ruth (Nangle) Horrigan and had resided in Peabody most of her life before moving to Middleton 2 years ago. She had been a Nurses aid at the Cedar Glen Nursing Home, the Hunt Retirement and Nursing Center and the Hogan Regional Healthcare center all in Danvers for many years. She was also a waitress at Landolphi’s in Danvers, Molly Waldo Restaurant and the Century House in Peabody for many years. She enjoyed going to the seashore at Nahant Beach and at the Salem Willows. In her youth, she enjoyed horseback riding at the Salem Country Club Stables. She was a sport enthusiast for the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She is survived by 4 sons and two daughter-in-laws, Michael and Joanne Mc Carthy of Freemont, NH, Mark and Marilyn Mc Carthy of Rowley, Stephen Mc Carthy of Peabody and John Mc Carthy and his fiancé, Cathy Alley both of Middleton, a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Barbara Horrigan of Peabody, a sister, Jeanne Griffin of Rowley, five grandchildren, Staci Doherty of Amesbury, Marc Mc Carthy of Seabrook, NH, Ryan Mc Carthy of Salem, MA, Sean Mc Carthy of St. Louis, MO and Kaitlyn Mc Carthy of Middleton, 4 great grandchildren, Derek Doherty, Nevaeh,, Landon and Tristen Mc Carthy and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Philip Horrigan. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 until 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Church, 22 Boston St., Middleton at 11:00 AM..
