Obituary of Kathleen V. (Conroy) Cavanaugh
Kathleen V. (Conroy) Cavanaugh, 83 years, of Peabody formerly of Danvers, wife of the late Robert T. Hingston and the late Arthur J. Cavanaugh died unexpectedly Thursday at her home.
Mrs. Cavanaugh was born May 29, 1919 in Boston daughter of the late William and Delia (Walsh) Conroy. She was raised and educated in Danvers graduating from Danvers High School class of 1937. She had made her home in both Danvers and Peabody. During WWII she was employed at the General Electric Co. in Lynn. After raising her family she then worked as a bookkeeper in charge of payroll at the headquarters of the Stop and Shop Stores in Boston from 1964 to 1974. Subsequently she worked at the Deerskin Trading Post in Danvers as a sales clerk until her retirement in 1985.
She was a Gold Star Wife. She volunteered at the Bishop Fenwick High School Beano for many years and enjoyed playing the game. She was a communicant of St. Richard Church in Danvers.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Kathleen and William Callahan of Danvers; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph and George Cavanaugh both of Peabody, Paul and Christine Cavanaugh of South Berwick, ME; a sister, Mary Mehrhoff of Westwood; six grandchildren, Heather Cavanaugh of Peabody, William Callahan of Astoria, NY, Patrick Callahan of Danvers, Shane, Meaghan and Keri Cavanaugh all of South Berwick, ME and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Raymond Conroy and Alice Hoffman.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 20 Church St., Peabody 978-531-0472 followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Richard Church, Danvers. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 4 - 8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
