Obituary of Elda A. (Parker) Drew

Elda A. (Parker) Drew, 83, of Swampscott and formerly of Peabody, died Sunday at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Willard H. Drew. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Viola (MacLean) Parker. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. After high school, she attended Hawthorn Institute in Salem and received her associate’s degree. Elda lived in Peabody for most of her life and has only lived in Swampscott for the past ten years. She worked throughout the North Shore as a secretary for various companies; the last was M.M. Newman Corp in Marblehead before finally retiring. After her retirement, she worked part time as home aid for associated home care in Peabody. She also was a member of the First Church in Swampscott. She is survived by two sons, Willard Parker Drew of Tennessee and Robert Alan Drew of Boston, two sisters, Myrna Pearson of Bonita Springs, FLA., and Joan and her husband Thomas Carroll of Georgia, two grandchildren, Kerry Drew Baxter and Katie Drew, she is also survived by a great grandchild and her dear friend Ted Regnante of Swampscott. At the request of the family, no funeral services have been scheduled at this time. A private family service will be held at a later date.
