Obituary of John "Jack" Walsh

John “Jack” J. Walsh, Jr. John J. “Jack” Walsh, Jr., 75, beloved husband of Adele (Russell) Walsh of Peabody, died at his home Monday morning following a long illness. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John and Latona (Currier) Walsh, Sr. He lived in Norwood in his youth where he attended schools and graduated from Norwood High School. Upon returning from serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War, he enrolled at Northeastern University in Boston where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Walsh worked as an Engineer for 31 years, mostly with Charles T. Main Company until they were acquired by Parsons Engineering shortly before his retirement. He loved his profession and enjoyed traveling around the world working on the projects he was assigned. As one whose energy always abound, he enjoyed working at BJ’s in Danvers as a Food Sample presenter. Jack was an avid golfer, was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Norwood, and a member of the American Society of Engineering. He will most affectionately be remembered for his dedication and love for his family—especially his grandchildren—and friends. He will be dearly missed by friends and family, including: his wife, Adele (Russell) Walsh of Peabody, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage; a son, David Walsh of Newton; two daughters, Kathleen Paulick of Abindon, MD and Julie Brophy of Peabody; seven (7) grandchildren, Melissa & James Cadd, Sophia & Wyatt Walsh, Ben Stavros, Daniel Brophy, John Brophy, III, and several other step-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Walsh of Walpole; two sisters, Barbara Pitman of Danvers and Nancy Golden of Walpole, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by a brother Frank Walsh and sister Evelyn Abely. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at the church on Saturday Jan 24, 2009 for a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
