Obituary of John F. Wilson

John F. Wilson, 81, husband of Jacqueline B. "Jacky" (Belanger) Wilson of Peabody, died Thursday, February 05, 2009 at the Salem Hospital NSMC after a lengthy illness. John was born in Boston on June 29, 1927 son of the late William C. and M. Irene (Burbank) Wilson. He was raised and educated in Roslindale and graduated from Beverly High School Class of 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on October 28, 1944 and served as a Seaman First Class until being honorably discharged on July 13, 1946. He then pursued his education at Northeastern University and the Lincoln Institute receiving a B.B.A. Degree in Engineering and Management in 1958. Before moving to Peabody in 1958 he had resided in Salem since 1950. John was employed for 6 years as an Engineer at Honeywell in Burlington until 1970 and several companies until 1977. In 1977, he joined the engineering / designer team at the General Electric River Works where he remained for 12 years until his retirement in 1989. From 1963 and for several years, John was very involved at St. Ann's Church as treasurer on the parish council, lector, the Religious Education Program and also as a member of the Holy Name Society. His hobby was woodworking and he could design & built any type of furniture etc. In addition to his wife with whom he shared 59 years of marriage, he is survived by his children and their spouses, John F. "Jay" Wilson Jr. of Los Angeles CA, Maryellen and Garry Sullivan of Clearwater FL, Dianne M. and Lawrence "Lonnie" Brennan of Georgetown and Janet W. and Alan Zani; a brother and wife, Donald and Kathleen Wilson of Danvers; a sister and her husband, Frances and Philip Butman and a sister-in-law, Mary Wilson all of Beverly Farms; 9 grandchildren, Kevin, Scott, Corey, Wesley, Elyse, Kinsey, Sarah, Erik and Erin and several nieces and nephews. His 2 daughters Jacqueline Lin Wilson and Pamela Wilson and siblings Irene Finn, Joanne Pike, William Wilson Jr. and Richard Wilson predeceased him. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. (facility) Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
