Obituary of Mary T. Roche

Mary T. Roche Mary T. Roche, 87, passed away unexpectedly on Monday February 9, 2009 at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody. Mary was born to the late Bridget (Doherty) and Michael Roche in Clairmorris, County Mayo, Ireland. She arrived in the United States in 1949 and worked for many years as a Governess and Domestic Assistant. She delighted in children, taking them for a day on the bus to go shopping, or out for a walk, or an ice cream treat. Her wit and humor were well-known. Quick with a quip and a sweet brogue, she always saw the lighter side of things. She cherished every child as her own, spoiling them just a little bit. She brightened the day of her many friends and acquaintances with her cheer, humor, and compassion. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody for many years. The memory of her wit, warmth, and optimistic spirit will be cherished by all blessed to have known her. She is survived by: her sister, Kathleen Maddison of Hyannis; two nephews, a niece and their families, Michael B. & his wife Sharyn Roche and their children Siobhan and Connor of Pelham, NH, Daniel P. Roche of Peabody, and Kathleen (Roche) Segura & her husband Robert, and their son Remington of Ballston, NY, and a sister-in-law Mary E. (O'Connor) Roche. She was preceded in death by siblings James J. Roche, Michael A. Roche, and Thomas Roche. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. (location) Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
