Obituary of Elaine H. (Ritcey) Curtis
Elaine H. (Ritcey) Curtis, 68, of Peabody, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington after a brief illness.
Elaine was born in Newton on January 11, 1941 the daughter of the late Harry Lester and Elizabeth T. (Gallagher) Ritcey. She was raised in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School class of 1959. In July of 1994 Elaine moved to Peabody. Prior to this move, she resided in Waltham for 10 years and Hudson 21 years.
Elaine was employed for 10 years in the Human Resource Department for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Civil Service Division until her retirement in 1992. She returned to work 7 years ago on a part time basis as a consultant for the department. Elaine was an Eucharistic Minister at St. Adelaide Parish in Peabody and the President of its' bowling team, was an avid gardener, enjoyed crocheting and playing cards as a hobby. She and her sister Betty Anne enjoyed going on yearly cruise vacations.
Elaine is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Kathryn M. Risotti and Jack Risotti Jr. of Marlborough, Susan E. and David Priest of Princeton, Sandra L. and Michael Maley of Southborough and Harry L. and Julie Curtis of Sturbridge; her devoted sister and best friend, Betty Anne Ritcey with whom she resided in Peabody; her loving brother and his wife David L. and Kathleen Ritcey of Seabrook NH; her cherished grandchildren, Taylor and Zachary Risotti of Marlborough, Connor and Hannah Priest of Princeton, Kelsey Maley of Southborough and Andrew Curtis of Sturbridge; an aunt, Betty Gallagher of Auburndale and 2 nephews, Matthew and Benjamin Cabral.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 8:45 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., (location) Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Adelaide Parish, 708 Lowell St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Gethsemane Cemetery, 670 Baker St., West Roxbury, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Adelaide Parish Nursing Ministry, 712 Lowell St., Peabody, MA 01960.
