Obituary of Patricia F. (O'Leary) Racki
Patricia F. (O'Leary) Racki, 81, loving wife of John J. Racki of Peabody, died on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Racki was born in Peabody on July 6, 1927 the daughter of the late Patrick and Hannah (Enright) O'Leary. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from St. John the Baptist Girls High School class of 1945 and most of her life she was a resident of Peabody. In 1985, she moved to Danvers returning to Peabody in 1997.
Mrs. Racki was employed for 32 years in the office at Kmart Department Store as a payroll clerk until her retirement in 1989. After her retirement and until 1999, Mrs. Racki was very involved as a volunteer at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish while Father Daniel Sheehan was Pastor. She was also very instrumental in planning trips for the parish and helping Father Dan with daily chores at the rectory. Her entire life revolved around her family. With the years, she was blessed with and so proud of her 7 grandchildren and most recently has cherished her 9 great grandchildren. She was a member of the Polish Club in Danvers, enjoyed traveling and going to Foxwoods.
In addition to her husband with whom she would have shared 61 years of marriage in July, she is survived by her children and their spouses, John R. and Candace Racki of Amesbury, Michael T. and Elaine Racki of Peabody, Elaine M. and William Bowers of Ipswich, James R. and Denise Racki of Danvers; a brother, Frank O'Leary of Whitefield NH; a sister, Eleanor Callahan of Peabody; her grandchildren, Kristan and Michael Pellizzaro, Steven and Nicole Racki all of Peabody, Samantha Racki, Jay Racki both of Newburyport, David Racki of Amesbury, Allison Racki of Raymond NH, Michael Racki of Danvers and Dylan Bowers of Lexington; her cherished 9 great grandchildren and her many nieces & nephews. Her brother Donald O'Leary predeceased her.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., (location) Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 260 North St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers MA 01923.
