Obituary of Thomas F. Cullen Sr.

Thomas F. Nick Cullen, 88, of Peabody died Unexpectedly Wednesday at the Lahey Clinic North in Peabody. He was the Husband of Eileen (O’ Brien) Cullen and had recently celebrated their 54 th Wedding anniversary . He was born in Peabody on Jan. 9, 1914, the Son of the late Nicholas and Julia A. (Sweeney) Cullen and resided here all his Life. He had been a steam fitter at the former A.C. Lawrence Leather Co., Peabody For 30 years prior to retirement in 1965. He then was employed with the City of Peabody at a meter reader with the Water Dept. for 15 years retiring in 1980. He was elected to the Peabody City Council serving a term from 1938 - 1940. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WW 11 serving as a Chief Ship fitter priot to his discharge in October, 1945. Surviving him besides his wife are 2 sons and a daughter in law, John J. Cullen of Bonita Springs, Fl. and Thomas F. and Sandra J. Cullen of Peabody; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Gayton, Thomas L. Cullen and Jacqueline R. Cullen all of Peabody and several Nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William F. Cullen and Alice (Cullen) Cahill. His Funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’ s Church, Lowell St., West Peabody at 10:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Friday from 2-4 and 7- 9 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Catholic Charities, North, 55 Lynn Shore Dr., Lynn, Ma. 01902.
