Obituary of Katherine K. (Fellows) Donovan

Katherine (Fellows) Donovan, 93, of Peabody, died Sunday evening in Salisbury following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph F. Donovan. Born in Sanbornville, NH, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Fennelly) Fellows. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of St. John’s High School in 1932. After high school, she attended J.B. Thomas School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse in 1938. After Nursing School, she enlisted with the United States Army as an army nurse, and served her country from December 1942 until her honorable discharge in February of 1946. After the war, she worked at the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody for over 25 years before retiring in 1972. She was a member of the J.B. Thomas Alumni Association and the Massachusetts Registration of Nurses as well. She is survived by a nephew, John Fellows and a niece Elaine Lewis, her great nephews, Nathan, Jason, Matthew, and Adam Fellows, great niece Cheryl Powers and a great nephew, Scott Lewis and two great great nephews, Derek Powers and Ryan Lewis. She was the sister of the late Harold and Oscar Fellows, Frank Fursiske and Mildred Suser. Visiting hours for Katherine will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church, Peabody and her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM at St. John’s Church Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Lovell Lake Cemetery in Sanbornville, New Hampshire at a later date.
