Obituary of Ruby (Cowart) Fried

Ruby (Cowart) Fried, 83, of Peabody and formerly of Virginia and Georgia, died peacefully Monday afternoon at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Myron L. Fried. Born in Savannah, Ga, she was the daughter of the late Judson and Ester (Bennett) Cowart. She was raised and educated in Georgia, later lived in Virginia and has spent the last 32 years living in Peabody. While living in Peabody, she worked as a sales clerk at the former Ann & Hope Store in Danvers for seven years. She was living at the Fairweather Apartments in Peabody and was very active among the many residents and friends she had there. What was most important to her was her family, she enjoyed every minute she spent with her family and this made her the most happiest. Among those family members, she is survived by a son, Nicholas Bouzianis of Peabody, two daughters, Linda Bouzianis of Virginia and Patty Fournier of Peabody, two brothers, William and Charles Cowart, both of Georgia, and is also survived by 14 loving grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Louis and Peter Bouzianis, and sister of the late Eugene, Robert, Earl, Frank, and Reggie Cowart, and Marjorie Fairchild and Jacqueline. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Cremation will follow the visiting hours on Friday and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the North Shore Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Dr. Peabody, MA 01960.
