Obituary of Ethel E. Auntie Ethie (Oberlander) Currier

Ethel E. "Aunt Ethie" (Oberlander) Currier, 73, of Peabody, wife of the late Kenneth C. Currier whom she married in 1953, died on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Ethel was born in Lynn on January 22, 1936 the daughter of the late Edward and Marion (Franklin) Oberlander. She was raised and educated in Lynn. Following her marriage she moved to Peabody where she has resided for most of her life. Ethel began her working career as an assembler at CBS Hytron in Danvers and then at the Norelco Light Plant on the Lynnway in Lynn. In 1991, she retired from Avnet Inc. in Peabody where she had been employed in the same capacity for many years. Ethel was described as a beautiful and strong woman who was the heart of the family and her huge smile said it all to those whom she loved. She always knew how to make people laugh and was loved by everyone in return. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother who dedicated her life to her entire family. Ethel enjoyed playing cards, gardening, cooking, loved the ocean side, reading a good mystery and could not leave her computer games and was always planning ahead for the family holidays and birthdays. Ethel is survived by her daughters, Debora A. Kolodziej and her husband Stanley P. Kolodziej, Jr . of Peabody and Marion V. Currier of Ft. Wayne, IN; 4 grandchildren, Kenneth Madore, Tracy Kolodziej and her fiancé Paul Stevens, Stanley Kolodziej all of Peabody and Stephen Best of Arlington; her nieces and nephew, Kim Hall, Lisa Hall, Albert Hall and Elizabeth Rogers; a family friend Pauline Kolodziej of Peabody and her adored dog "Simba Girl". Her sister Virginia Hall predeceased her. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. (facility) Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Monday, March 9, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
