Obituary of Mary J. (Owirka) Miller
Mary J. (Owirka) Miller, 93, of Peabody and formerly of Saugus, died early Tuesday morning at the Renaissance Gardens at Brooksby Village following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Malcolm L. Miller.
Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Justina (Misgulis) Owirka. She was raised and educated in Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin High School, class of 1933. She later lived in Saugus for 35 years and has spent the last 9 years living in Peabody.
Mary worked for various companies throughout the North Shore as an Office Clerk. Among the companies she worked for was Shawmut Bank, later retired from New England Telephone and after her retirement, worked additional years for CWT.
For the past nine years, Mary has been a resident at Brooksby Village in Peabody and enjoyed a very active social life with all the residents and their daily activities
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Ronda Miller of Spokane, WA., two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lee and Michael Martwichuck of Lynn and Cheryl and Ralph Worth of Rockland, her two grandchildren, Jon Miller and Jamie Palazzotto and two great grandchildren, Jayden and Izabella, all of Anchorage, Alaska, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 101 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Brooksby Village Benevolent Care Fund, 300 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody, MA 01960 or the Beacon Hospice, 100 Cummings Center, Beverly, MA 01915
