Ira J. Jean (Boyd) Eastland
PEABODY Ira J. Jean (Boyd) Eastland, 71, beloved wife of James G. Eastland, died Saturday evening at Salem Hospital following complications due to cancer.
Ira Jean, known as Jean to her family and friends, was born in San Antonio, TX. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Annie (Keiling) Boyd. She lived there for many years, and attended schools there. She graduated from Harlandale High School. She lived in a few cities before settling in Peabody in 1963, living here for the last 42 years.
Mrs. Eastland was a homemaker, and developed an avocation of attending Flea Markets. As she started collecting Antiques, she started setting up at Flea Markets and enjoyed seeing her friends and colleagues. She was well known in the Antique and Collectibles business. She was a regular at Todd’ s Flea Market in Rowley.
Jean is survived by: her devoted husband of 53 years, James G. Eastland of Peabody; one daughter, Lynnda J. Bauder of Wauchula, FL; two grandchildren, Corine Sandberg Waters and Brian Erik Sandberg, both of FL; one great-granddaughter, Katherine Jean Waters of FL; three sisters, Carolyn Taubert of San Antonio, TX, Mildred Seiler of Houston, TX, and Shirley Roberts of Corpus Christi, TX, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Laverne Rennert.
A Memorial Gathering and visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
A Funeral Liturgy and urn burial will take place in San Antonio next week.
