Obituary of Margit (Resch) McKenna

Margit (Resch) McKenna, 73, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a lengthy courageous battle with ALS. She was the devoted wife of Edward F. McKenna with whom she shared over 46 years of marriage. Born in Kroisbach, Hungary, she was the daughter of the late Magdalene Resch. She was raised and educated in Hungary and Germany and has lived in Peabody for the past 42 years. While living in Germany, she worked as a seamstress and in fashion design for the Fellner Moden Company in Nurnberg. She designed many wedding dresses and volunteered her services as a seamstress to provide various religious garments at St. Adelaide’s Church in Peabody. Margit also volunteered for many charitable organizations and fund raisers for various groups throughout the area. She also enjoyed gardening and creating floral arrangements. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Brian F. and Maura McKenna, Kevin and Nicole McKenna and Brendan and Patricia McKenna, three grandchildren, Deirdre, Katrina, and Angelina, all of Peabody, a sister and brother-in-law, Annamarie and Horst Schneider, a niece and nephew, Martina and Klaus Schneider and grand nephew, Lucas Schneider, all of Nurnberg, Germany. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
