Obituary of Zelia J. (Cunha) Ouellette

Zelia J. (Cunha) Ouellette, 84, of Peabody, wife of the late Robert F. Ouellette, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Union Hospital in Lynn. Mrs. Ouellette was born in Peabody on October 2, 1924 the daughter of the late Eugene and Maria (Lobao) Cunha. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School class of 1943 and was a lifelong resident of the city. Mrs. Ouellette was employed as a sales clerk at J. J. Newbury at the North Shore Shopping Center in Peabody from their opening until it's closing. She was a parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Church and a member of the Holy Ghost Society in Peabody. As hobbies she knitted and crocheted many baby sweaters and afghans and also enjoyed going to Foxwoods, Las Vegas and playing the lottery. Mrs. Ouellette is survived by her children and their spouses, Deborah L. and Fernando Morais, Robert F. Ouellette, Jr. and Maureen Ouellette, and Marianne A. Ouellette all of Peabody; her grandchildren, Joseph Morais of Los Angeles CA, Anthony and Amy Morais of Danvers, Shane and Brandon Ouellette both of Peabody; 4 great grandchildren, Audrey and Abrianna Ouellette of Peabody, and Julian and Marcus Morais of Danvers; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Jennings of Salem and several nieces and nephews. Her brother Edgar Cunha predeceased her. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. (location) Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Friday, March 20, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Ghost Society, 20 Howley St., Peabody MA 01960. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
