Obituary of Sr Margaret Dorothea Connell, SND

Sister Margaret Dorothea Connell, SND, born Dorothy L. Connell, 89, of 30 Jeffrey’ s Neck Road, Ipswich, died early Saturday evening at the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Residence following a brief illness. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Doherty) Connell. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur at Waltham on August 14, 1945, professed her first vows on January 30, 1948 and her final vows on July 30, 1953. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Emmanuel College in Boston. Sisters teaching ministries were in Lawrence, Somerville, Tyngsboro, Emmanuel College and Ipswich. She is survived by two sisters, Genevieve Connell of Lynn and Helen Murphy of Woburn and is also survived by her many Sisters of Notre Dame. She was the sister of the late Mary, Loretta, Ruth, Henry, and Arthur Connell. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 3:00 PM in Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey’ s Neck Rd., Ipswich. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:45 PM in Our Lady Queen Chapel. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Retirement Fund, 30 Jeffrey’ s Neck Road, Ipswich.
