Obituary of Gertrude Veronica (Carvalho) Keating

Gertrude Veronica (Carvalho) Keating, 77, wife of the late John Joseph Keating, died on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody. Mrs. Keating was born in Boston on February 17, 1932 the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Gertrude V. (Daly) Carvalho. She was raised in Charlestown and graduated from Charlestown High School class of 1949. She then pursued her education at the Burdett Business School in Boston for 2 years. Gertrude was employed for a few years at the Deerskin Trading Post in Peabody as a data entry office member of staff. Gertrude was quite involved at the Peter A. Torigian Community Life Center and the Peabody Council on Aging in Peabody and as hobbies she enjoyed painting and line dancing. Gertrude is survived by her 2 sons and their spouses, Kevin G. Keating and Susan D. Wills of Holland Patent NY, and Patrick J. and Katherine E. Keating of Broomfield CO; 2 grandsons, Nathan and Brett Keating of Rome NY; 2 sisters, Mary Bradshaw of Charlestown and Fran Williams of TX and several nieces and nephews. Her siblings Joseph and Ralph Carvalho predeceased her. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church Street (downtown facility) Peabody followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 27, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment of ashes will take place on Saturday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem following the Memorial Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peter A.
