Obituary of Ann Marie (McGann) Fallis
Ann Marie (McGann) Fallis, 85, of Peabody, died Wednesday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late John Fallis.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Delia (Connolly) McGann. She was a life long resident of Peabody and a graduate of Essex Aggie Agricultural School in Danvers.
She worked as a sales clerk at the former Jordan Marsh Company at the North Shore Mall until 1977, and then for Almy’s and McMahon’s in Salem before finally retiring many years ago.
Ann Marie was a great supporter and volunteer for many veteran organizations throughout the state. She was a past commander of the district 4 of the DAV Ladies Auxiliary, Chapter 100, a member of the American Legion Post 30 in East Boston, American Legion Post 6 in Lynn, American Veterans Post 51 in Randolph and the Veterans of Foreign War, post 1011 Ladies Auxiliary in Peabody as well. She also volunteered countless hours at the Veteran’s Hospital in Bedford.
She is survived by two sons, Kevin J. Fallis of Boston and Brian K. Fallis of Skowhegan, Maine, a daughter, Mary Ellen Coats of Skowhegan, Maine, and is also survived by seven grandchildren and a great grandchild. She was the sister of the late Mary Ellen Bisset.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 8:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:00 PM on Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the DAV National Life Memorial Fund, C/O DAV, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
