Obituary of Portia (Collins) Mavrakos
Portia (Collins) Mavrakos, 89, of Peabody, died early Friday afternoon at the Radius Health Care Center in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Timothy A. Mavrakos with whom she shared over 53 years of marriage.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Vercela (Anaspiriges) Collins. She was raised and educated in Peabody, later lived in Wenham and Florida.
Prior to her retirement, she owned together with her husband Timothy, the Sword and Shield Steak House in Beverly
She is survived by a son, Anthony T. Mavrakos of Wenham, a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Chris Kitsopoulos of Viera, Fla; a sister, Mary Williams of Peabody; two grandchildren, Kristina and Demetri Kitsopoulos and a great grandchild, Brandon Arena as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late James Collins and Virginia Gurley.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Services in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 4 until 8 PM. Burial in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
