Obituary of James E. "Jimmy" Johnson

James E. "Jimmy" Johnson, 53, of Saugus, died on Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital after being stricken at his home. Born in Somerville on September 18, 1955 the beloved son of Jeanne M. (Hannaford) Johnson of Peabody and the late James E. Johnson. He was raised and graduated from Somerville Vocational High School. He resided in Somerville and Methuen before moving to Saugus in 2004. He served in the United States Navy as an interior communications electrician receiving his honorable discharge in 1973. Jimmy was most recently employed in the office at the Rte 99 Auto Body Shop in Malden. He was a racecar enthusiast, a big fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed watching all other sports. He dedicated his life to his children. In addition to his mother he was the devoted father of James E. Johnson III, Kevin P. Johnson both of Saugus and Allen Sousa of Malden; the loving brother and brother-in-law of Linda Blais of Lowell, Janice and Robert Silva of Wilmington, Karen and Edward Mayo of Peabody, Patricia and Raymond LaBranche of Lynn, Michael and Jeanette Johnson of Londonderry NH, Maryellen Johnson and Thomas Batts of Lynn, Sandra Johnson and Daniel Bouchard of Medford and Joanne Johnson of Salem; the former husband of Angela A. Laurora of Melrose; grandfather of 3, nephew of 2 aunts and 1 uncle, uncle to many nieces, nephews and cousin to many. His funeral will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 9:45 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., (facility) Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Adelaide Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody.
