Obituary of Margaret E. "Peg" (Cavan) Donahue

Margaret Elizabeth “Peg” (Cavan) Donahue, 79, of Peabody formerly of Bradford, wife of Ronald J. Donahue, died on Friday, April 3, 2009 at her home with her loving family at her side. Peg was born in Haverhill on March 28, 1930 the daughter of the late John A. and Marie Louise (Coddaire) Cavan. She was raised in Haverhill and graduated from Saint James High School Class of 1948. Peg pursued her education for 2 years at Miss Fay’s Business School in Boston. In 2001 Ron and Peg moved from Bradford to Brooksby Village in Peabody. Peg devoted her entire life to her husband, family and many friends. Her strong Catholic faith brought her much comfort over her lifetime. Peg developed a great love for the beach spending many summers with family and friends in the Seabrook area. She was a lifelong sports fan having grown up with four brothers. She enthusiastically supported and encouraged her children and grandchildren during their sport activities. Peg and Ron were also both avid bridge and cribbage card players. In addition to her husband Ron of Peabody with whom she shared 49 years of marriage, she is survived by her children, Louise M. Donahue of Ashland, John M. and his wife Gina L. Donahue of Marlboro; 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth R. Donahue, Brian M. Donahue and John J. Donahue all of Marlboro; a brother, David Cavan of West Boylston and numerous nieces and nephews. Her siblings Edward, Francis and Joseph predeceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 300 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Her visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. (facility) Peabody. Burial will be held Wednesday at 2:15 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, 96 Salem St., Bradford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or the Brooksby Village Benevolent Fund, 300 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA 01960.
